Thanks for praying for the retreat. It was an awesome time! The ladies really enjoyed themselves and it was very evident that the Lord was present throughout the weekend. This retreat was made up of both believers and non-believers, but even those who already know Jesus are relatively new in their faith. This weekend was a time to pamper the ladies and give them a place to ask questions about Christianity and what it means to have a relationship with Jesus. Many of these women come from a place called Ballymun. This would be known as the wrong side of the tracks and many of them come from rough backgrounds. For many of these women, this was the first time they had been out in the country away from their neighborhood for any length of time. It was awesome to see them respond to being out in the country and relaxing.
On Friday night I spoke on the Samaritan women at the well and how Jesus loved everyone, even those with a past that might not be so pretty. Our retreat was at a place called An Tobar, which is Gaelic for The Well. The question of the night was, are you thirsty for what Jesus has to offer.
Saturday morning we talked about Mary and Martha and their encounters with Jesus. We asked the question, "What does it mean to worship Jesus?" Then in the evening the guys came out to do the concert that Mike has already mentioned. The women really loved the concert and enjoyed the music and comedy that we brought.
This morning the guys came back and joined us to lead worship and I spoke on the story of blind Bartimaues and shared some of my testimony. There were some great questions and many significant conversations that took place throughout the weekend. Becky Inger (who works in Ireland with her husband Stan as team mates of Denny and Linda) ran a prayer room where the ladies could come and talk and get answers to questions that they might have.
This weekend was a big event for this ministry in Ireland. I believe there will be much fruit that comes from this time away. I look forward to hearing about those who being relationships with Christ because they had a place to come and ask the questions that will lead them closer to Jesus.
We head home tomorrow. We are excited to be coming home, but have enjoyed the time here. It has been a great mission trip and we have seen God do some great things through our lives here. Please continue to pray for us as we travel and for Denny and Linda as they begin the task of following up on all of the new contacts from the kids club and the retreat.
