Good-Bye old Krazr!

So, tomorrow I can get a new phone. For those of you with Verizon you know that you can get a new phone every two years and I was recently notified that it was that time...I can go pick out a new phone. Well this is totally awesome because I am a gadget junkie and love getting a new phone and I am excited to pick out my new toy.

However, one of our secretaries, Lori, asked me why I was getting a new phone because it seemed like I had just gotten the one I am using now and that got me thinking...two years have gone by since I got my totally awesome, fire red Krazr. Two years of technological advances that have made my totally awesome, fire red Krazr seem outdated.

Now if you know how my mind works, I can never just think a thought like that without somehow wondering how that might apply to my life as a Christian. So of course, here is my random devotional thought of the moment based on my old Krazr and my soon to be totally awesome new phone that is yet to be determined.

In the two years that I have been using my old phone, they have created new and improved phones that are more advanced and have greater ability. My question to myself is...in that same two year period, have I advanced and become a better person or have I remained the same, just like my old phone? In my walk with the Lord, am I more advanced, am I closer spiritually, do I serve the Lord more reliably and do I look like a new and improved Ann Harrington? Or am I still only doing the same old things I use to do, with the same old prayer life, the same level of service to the Lord and the same depth of understanding of scripture? I hope not. Everything changes over time. My prayer is that as each year passes, my love for the Lord continues to grow, my depth of spiritual insight deepens and the world sees a new and improved me who points them to Christ.
