Why's it Taking So Long!

The last few days I have been thinking about and meditating on some thoughts out of the book of Habakkuk. You know...that obscure little 3 chapter book near the end of the Old Testament. Some of my favorite verses come out of this book.

Habakkuk starts out his book by crying out to God..."How long do I have to ask for help and you are not listening? Why are you tolerating what's going on in the world? Basically he is saying , I don't get it God...why are you not making things right, why does it seem like justice never happens?"

And I love God's response..."watch and be amazed, I am going to do something in your day that you wouldn't believe, even if I told you."

That is encouraging stuff to me. I look around and see injustice and pain and I asked the same question..."how long, God, until you make things right?" And I know his response is the same to me as it was to Habakkuk..."just watch Ann, if I told you all of the amazing things I am going to do in your day you wouldn't even believe it."

So I am trying to pray the thoughts of Habakkuk 3:2 on a regular basis. "Lord, I have heard all about that amazing things you have done and I am in awe of you and I am asking you to do it again. Renew your amazing deeds in my day and make Yourself known. And while You're at it...when you get really angry at everything that's going on...remember you are merciful."

God is doing great things all around us and if we are paying attention we will see His hand moving in our lives and in the lives of people all around the world.

If you have a few minutes...why not read through the short little book of Habakkuk. Habakkuk was asking the same questions we ask and God answered him. While you are reading why not ask God to reveal something new about Himself to you today.

Hey-
Rereading this book reminded me of the memory verse we had in morning bible study a couple years back. Love it!!!!!
